A homeless advocate urged the Colorado Springs City Council on Tuesday to delay voting on a no-camping ordinance to give his group time to double check the number of shelter beds available to homeless campers.

Homeless advocates are asking Colorado Springs officials to wait on a proposal to outlaw camping on city property because there aren’t enough shelter beds and they want time to prove it. An official with the Colorado Springs Homeless Outreach Program & Empowerment group told the City Council Tuesday they don’t believe there are 175 beds available for the homeless.
